Hello Asmae, you're a consultant at QESTIT, and you have just hosted a webinar in collaboration with Keysight, where we talked about the benefits of test automation, and more specifically in the context of a Salesforce Salesforce project.
Yes, I've been with QESTIT for a few years now, and had the pleasure of hosting my first webinar with Keysight Sales Director Thierry Zuzel.
We're curious to know more about your background and expertise. How do we become testers?
By passion, of course, but also by chance! I started my career as a developer, and as the projects progressed, I was able to acquire new skills and move into software testing.
My transition took place with the same customer. I started out providing level 2 and 3 support and then specialized in software testing. In this way, I was able to combine my experience in development and project management. Today, this is a great strength because I have a very good understanding of what software quality involves.
What did you study for, to enter this career path?
I started out with a diploma in Information Systems Technician, then a second in Computer and Network Engineering and finished with a degree in Project Management. I've studied the whole project lifecycle (development, compilation, testing, management... etc.) so I have a very complete vision and knowledge of this environment. At the start of my career, I began by specializing in development, before switching to testing.
And thanks to my studies, I'm lucky enough to have a dual background in project management and software quality, which guides and supports me in my role as Test Manager.
You talked about automation in our webinar. Why is this a key topic?
Today, the most critical elements in projects are resources and deadlines. And these obviously have a big impact on the budget.
To meet deadlines, I rely on rigorous planning and prioritization of critical tests. Where resources are limited, it's important to work with teams to find solutions and allocate tasks efficiently. Automating the most repetitive tests is an effective solution to these constraints. In this webinar, we will demonstrate its effectiveness on projects involving Salesforce.
You've been in the business for several years. What do you like best?
I love this job, because it gives real meaning to every action: every validated test, every successful project, is not just a goal achieved, but a contribution to our customers' success. Like a lighthouse guiding a ship to safe shores, my job is to guarantee quality and ensure that every solution deployed leads our customers towards their objectives with assurance and confidence.
Now that you've been on a number of assignments, what do you think is the key to smooth, efficient integration?
For me, it's essential to understand the customer's expectations right from the start. Good communication and a thorough analysis of needs enable a project to be integrated quickly. Being proactive in getting to grips with existing tools and processes is also crucial to a smooth adaptation.
What advice would you give to someone wanting to become a tester?
I'd tell him to be curious, to take the time to understand the fundamentals of testing, and above all, not to be afraid to ask questions. Rigor and organization are paramount, but it's also important to be open to new technologies and methods, such as AI, which is arriving very fast.
To end on a lovely note, what would be your victory song after a successful test mission?
Without hesitation, Queen's “We are the champions”. Every job is a challenge where we hunt for bugs, where every detail counts to ensure quality. Once everything has been corrected and validated, and the customer is satisfied, that's the reward for a job well done. That's when we can really say: “We're the champions”.
