QESTIT and University Zittau/Görlitz researchers enhance the AI workflow framework to improve automated quality assurance processes.

Görlitz, September 01 2025 – QESTIT and the University Zittau/Görlitz have initiated a joint research and development project to expand the current AI workflow framework with modules for end-to-end automated quality assurance. Over the next weeks, a proof of concept will be developed that firmly integrates the computer-use approach directly into testing workflows. This will automate the execution of test cases, detect defects at an early stage, identify root causes, and provide actionable recommendations for resolution. Combining QESTITS’s industry practice with the applied research methodology will result in robust, evidence-based data to validate efficiency, reliability, and cost advantages, while shaping the next generation of QA standards.

 

The project centres on analysing existing closed- and open-source “computer use” solutions. Based on these findings, the partners are building an enhanced framework with a JSON interface capable of autonomously handling test cases, input data, and contextual information. In parallel, they are developing an evaluation system that monitors runtime, reliability, and costs in real time, validating results through multimodal models such as screenshot analysis. This evidence-based data will enable QA departments to make well-founded investment and resource allocation decisions.

Prof. Jörg Lässig from the University Zittau/Görlitz adds: „The initiative brings state-of-the-art scientific methodology directly into quality assurance. Through applied research, we aim to demonstrate how AI models can make testing processes sustainably more efficient.

 

The project establishes a new benchmark for automated test case execution and evaluation in QA. Leveraging multimodal AI, it automates the execution of test cases and systematically analyses results, enabling faster, more accurate defect detection and delivering more reliable, meaningful test outcomes.

 

By mid-November 2025, QESTIT and researchers of the University Zittau/Görlitz will deliver a proof of concept identifying where and under what conditions AI-powered test automation can effectively complement – or fully replace – conventional testing methods. Insights gained will drive the ongoing enhancement and integration of automated testing frameworks into QESTIT QA workflows. The partnership will also continue beyond this project, with a focus on advancing AI-powered test automation in ways that are both innovative and industry-relevant.
